In the spirit of don’t-we-all-know-way-too-much-about-each-other-already, dusting off the blog and thought this would be a great place to start .
Not sure about you, but I feel like how we spend our money is no one else’s business. I recognize the irony in that statement, but that’s for another day. If you use Venmo (which I love) and don’t want everyone in your contacts knowing who you’re exchanging your dollars with, follow the simple steps below to lock down your privacy.
The image below is the first thing I saw this morning when I opened the app and so couldn’t resist using it for this post. I almost spit out my coffee laughing, but also feel like I’m somehow invading their privacy and maybe they don’t know that everyone (see that globe) in their contacts can see this. Or, maybe they do know and don’t care. Which is totally fine too. You do you!
Note: The image (used with permission) is also a great example of what I teach kids about the fact that everything we see online is out of context. Is this person really sending money for scandy pics? It doesn’t matter but, for the record, I’ve learned this was sent to his mother-in-law. All adults and obviously a funny story here… between them, not me.
Let’s get started – First:
Open Venmo and tap the person with dollar sign icon at the lower right to get to your account screen. Then tap the Settings icon in the upper right corner.
Once in Settings, go to Privacy.
Choose Private and then – this is how you go from Private to Super Private – go to Friends List…
…and choose Private. Then be sure to turn off/swipe left on “Appear in other users’ friends lists.”
And just like that… your Venmo is now SUPER PRIVATE.
If you found this helpful, sharing and commenting is always appreciated. Oh, and for all you teenager stalking parents? I get it. Share at your own discretion. *wink
Thanks for stopping by,
