Biography

Jennifer Cannon is a New Jersey-based writer with clips in Town & Country Magazine, Newsweek, Business Insider, The Ethel, Next Avenue, TODAY, and EatThis! Not That!. She continues to build her byline while working on a debut YA novel, Betting on You, inspired by real events in the life of her colorful grandfather and her experiences growing up with him.

Her first book, “@Sophie Takes a #Selfie” (2014), a first of its kind social media guide for kids, led to regular appearances on FOX29 Good Day Philadelphia and CBS3 Philly. She has been interviewed by media in print and on radio from Sydney, Australia to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

A mom of three, spanning two generations, and two grandkids, Jennifer is empty nesting in South Jersey with her husband and their Chiweenie rescue pup, Carmella.

Fun Facts About J. J. Cannon

  • According to Ancestry, Jennifer is a 6th cousin 5x removed from Abraham Lincoln on her mother’s side. Her great-grandmother’s maiden name is Lincoln. Yes, there are tall people in her family. She would love to get to the bottom of this with the help of the folks at TLC’s “Who Do You Think You Are”. She is also a very proud one-quarter Armenian, and Danish.
  • Jennifer’s grandfather, Robert ‘Bob’ Jensen and great-grandfather, John C. Jensen were pioneers in radio. Bob Jensen also worked as an audio engineer for NBC for 38 years before retiring in 1975. He helped open NBC’s television studio on October 5, 1938 at Sunset Vine.
  • Jennifer knows her way around a kitchen and enjoys cooking for family and friends.
